how to acess windows (office) excel file using C program

hallo
i am intersted in reading the excel file using a C program. If i get some ideas for doing this program or some sample codes, if you have some header files for doing this work also is more apprecialble.
I am waiting for a kind reply regarding this query.

if know COM u can do it. use interfaces supported excel.

i have borland c++ with me in that i have accessed a sample excel file but i could not able to read the value
