System Clock Issue
OK, I've got the weiredest problem here. I'm running Windows2000 Professional, and I seem to have a problem with my system clock. I'm not exactly sure how this happens, but my system clock suddenly moves back 30min. For example, my system clock is set to 9:45PM. The next minute, it turns to 9:15PM, instead of moving onto 9:46PM. I'm not running anything intense, except maybe NAV. The system doesn't seem to be in any "busy" state, and my computer (P3 900mhz, 256mb RAM) doesn't seem to be lacking much in hardware resources either. Any ideas/suggestions?
is your time zone set ok?
NAV has been know to cause this in 9x, not sure about w2k. as a test disable NAV and see if this fixes the problem. If so go to norton's site and see if they have a patch
are you logging on to a Win2k domain? Check the time on the domain controller.

My timezone is set to Eastern Time. I've got the daylight saving option set as well. I'm not logged into any domain - this computer is on its own. I'm running LiveUpdate constantly, so NAV should be updated, more or less. I checked NAV's site to see if there were any updates, but it seems like LiveUpdate has upadted my software completely. I'll try to disable NAV tonight to see if it makes any change(s).
Ran into this also. Solution was to do a BIOS flash.

OK, I'll try to update the BIOS and see if anything goes wrong. I disabled NAV last night, but no difference. I woke up with 3 hours difference. I was also wondering if it could be the "standby" mode could be doing this.

Actually, I just checked, and my BIOS flashware was updated to the latest version.
Then I'd look to replacing the battery on the motherboard

I doubt the battery is the problem. It's a pretty new motherboard, and the BIOS reads the correct time.

It's a P3 Asus A7V133 motherboard, with a AMD 900mhz CPU on it. I bought it 5-6 months ago, and have been running into problems ever since I bought it. Software I'm running in background: ICQ, mIRC, MSN Messenger, WinDVD, RealPlayer, and WinAmp. It doesn't seem too heavy of a load, but the time just lags on behind.

OK, nothing seems to be working, and my clock is getting worse and worse. Now, it seems like it's lagging behind little by little as well (on top of moving 30min. back in time). I guess it's my motherboard - no other clue. If someone could tell me how I can synchronize the time with some government time server, I'll award him/her the points. I'm using Windows 2000 Pro.

It should synchronize about every minute or two.

You should not need to sync every min or two, something is very wrong if that is the case, and you should continue to try and track it down. End task on all but systray and explorer and see if it still looses time

stevenlewis, I tried the program you gave me, but was wondering if there was any program that would automatically synchronize time. It seems like I've got to click the [set correct time] button everytime I wanted to synchronize my time. Any software that would do it automatically every now and then?

OK, I re-verified everything, seems like my motherboard IS the culprit. I rechecked my BIOS time, and *tada-*, my BIOS time was off as well. I don't know how I missed that last time, but it seems like tituba2 deserves the points. One last thing, though, before I close this question. Does anyone know if Asustek has this ACPI patch for A7V133 motherboards?
