Add a disk to an existing system
I have a Solaris Ultra-10, with Solaris 5.8 and I want to add another harddisc to the system.
There is a IDE-disk installed and I want to add another IDE-disk.
During the startup, the /var/adm/message file contains the following lines:
Mar 19 12:12:47 solaris-ws1 dada: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING: /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ide@3/da d@1,0 (dad1):
Mar 19 12:12:47 solaris-ws1 corrupt label - wrong magic number
Is that okay? What have I to do, to mount the new disc?

format it.

when I type format, the new disk is not displayed. So I can't format the disk.
What have I to do, that "format" shows my new disk?

On solaris 8, it says you should use devfsadm, rather than drvconfig (I think it less likely to cause system hangs)
on sol8 drvconfig is a link to devfsadm. After any hardware change, either boot the machine using "-r" flag, or boot normally and run devfsadm.
Without rebooting.. devfsadm -c disks
With a reboot.. touch /reconfigure ; init 6
